Camu camu is a small reddish-purple berry from the Amazon, traditionally harvested along the rivers of Peru. We process the fruit into a 100% pure, single-ingredient powder with a sharp, citrusy, naturally tart flavour. It is one of nature's most concentrated plant sources of vitamin C.
Camu camu is naturally high in vitamin C. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to normal energy-yielding metabolism, and helps reduce tiredness and fatigue. The powder is also naturally low in sugar, making it an easy way to add a citrus lift to drinks and recipes.
A little goes a long way thanks to its tartness — start with around half a teaspoon. Stir into smoothies, juices, water and wellness shots, or mix into yoghurt and overnight oats. Avoid adding to very hot liquids if you want to keep its vitamin C content high.
Sharp, citrusy and tart — similar to a very sour berry. It's best combined with sweeter ingredients like banana, mango or apple juice.
Because it is naturally tart, a typical serving is around ½–1 teaspoon. Start small and adjust to taste.
It is one of the richest plant sources of naturally occurring vitamin C, which is why it's a popular addition to everyday wellness routines.
You can, but vitamin C is sensitive to heat. To retain more of it, add camu camu to cold or warm — rather than boiling — drinks.
