We hope you have all been enjoying the sunny weather in the UK these past few weeks! We’ve been making the most of the weather whilst it lasts (we’re not pessimistic, we’re just Scottish) with delicious vegan picnics in Glasgow’s beautiful parks and wanted to share our favourite go-to vegan picnic snacks!

These mini sausages can be enjoyed hot or cold and so are perfect for picnics. They’re delicious with dips, served on cocktail sticks with pineapple, vegan cheese and pickled onion or just eaten straight from the packet!

No good picnic is complete without crisps! Ten Acreare a tasty brand of hand-picked crisps and popcorn which are gluten free, MSG free and very popular in our online supermarket. Our favourite, and most popular flavours, are the delicious Cheese & Onion and Chicken Soup. Sadly the Chicken Soup flavour has now been discontinued from the brand, but we do have the last 1,000 packets of this flavour on our online supermarket so we’d recommend to buy in advance for your Summer picnics!

The main picnic event: the sandwiches! A couple of our favourite sandwich fillers are: VBites Sage & Onion Slices with Follow Your Heart Vegenaise and Wilhelmsburger Chilli Slices; VBites Smoked Salmon Slices and Sheese Cream Cheese; and Taifun Pizza Pizza Tofu Filets with Violife Pizza Flavour Slices and Follow Your Heart Garlic Aioli (think pizza sandwich).

If you are gluten free, we’d recommend replacing the VBites Sage Slices with the Violife Chicken or Ham Slices. The other two sandwiches are already suitable for a gluten free diet!

Lazy Day are an incredible gluten free, wheat free and vegan Scottish company that produce delicious tiffin, shortbread, millionaire crispies, rocky road and various cake slices in various tasty flavours! With so much variety and suitability for many diets, their products are the perfect baked goods to serve up at your picnic.

Whole Earth’s sparkling juices are the perfect refreshment to wash down your delicious picnic food. We stock the cranberry, orange & lemon, apple and cola flavours. The orange & lemon is particularly refreshing!

(Image)

Follow Your Heart’s Garlic Aioli is the perfect accompaniment to any fresh veggies, so slice up your favourite raw veggies, we recommend cucumbers, carrots and peppers, and enjoy dipping!

For us, a light, refreshing salad to enjoy on the side of our sandwiches is a picnic necessity. Rustle up salad leaves, spinach or romaine lettuce with your favourite vegetables and croutons and drizzle with Follow Your Heart’s Organic Caesar Salad dressing, or any of their other delicious dressings which take your fancy!

For a heartier salad we suggest topping your salad with the Violife Greek Alternative Cheese, which tastes just like feta, or the Tofurky Slow Roasted Lightly Seasoned Chick’n!

We at TVK are self-proclaimed coleslaw enthusiasts. We suggest chopping up white cabbage, carrot and a wee bit of onion and mixing these with the delicious Follow Your Heart Vegan Coleslaw Dip to enjoy as a sandwich filler, as a dip for crisps or just by the spoonful.

Tyne Chease’s range is authentically cultured and matured and is inspired by methods going back thousands of years. They specialise in a selection or artisan cheese, which are perfect to enjoy on Angelic Gluten Free Cocktail Oatcakes and with a glass of red wine (if your council permits outdoor drinking!). Our favourites are the garlic chease and the dill chease.

Green Vie’s Stuffed Peppers is the perfect picnic tapas to nibble on. They’re also gluten free, soy free and GMO free and so suitable for many allergen-specific diets.

Happy picnicking! It looks like we’re in for a warm summer!
