PETA Calls For Meat Factories Closures In Ireland Amid COVID-19
Animal rights organisation PETA has created mobile ads calling slaughterhouses and meat processing factories closures amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The mobile posters are being driven around the capital of Ireland to focus the attention on how the COVID-19 is affecting people working in meat processing facilities.
The posters say: "No one needs to kill to eat. Close abattoirs and meat factories: save the workers, their families, and the animals."
The meat factories became the new hotspots of the coronavirus.
According to the latest reports, 800 workers were tested positive with the virus in 16 Irish meat factories, but the facilities are still operating.
PETA informs that the Rosderra Irish Meats processing plant in Tipperary remains open even though one-third of its workers have tested positive for COVID-19.
The charity says: 'the facility remains open – meaning animals continue to be killed, while workers continue to be put at risk'.
PETA's director, Elisa Allen, said: "A deadly disease that originated in a meat market is now sweeping through blood-soaked, offal-strewn meat-processing plants and endangering workers, their families, and the whole community,"
"No one needs meat – that's why PETA is calling for these filthy facilities to be shut down immediately, for everyone's protection."
