New Plant-Based Meat 'Pulled Oats' Debuts in the USA

Pulled Oats is a plant-based protein developed in Finland in 2015 by Gold&Green Foods Ltd.

Pulled Oats is made from a combination of oats, fava beans, yellow peas, cold-pressed rapeseed oil and salt.  The result is a “vegan crumble” - a meat substitute that has a meaty ‘pulled’ texture.

The texture is achieved using only mechanical processes such as mixing, pressing, and heating.

The oats “meat” perfectly mimics the shredded, juicy texture of pulled pork and the has a similar flavour. According to the producer Pulled Oats tastes even better than the traditional meat.

Each serving contains about 5 grams of fat, 30 grams of protein and all the essential amino acids.

Pulled Oats is easy to prepare and can be incorporated into many different dishes, including burgers and Italian lasagna or bolognese.

Pulled Oats is launching in the USA as a pre-cooked, ready-to-prepare product and will be distibuted across the country by Sysco.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Sysco to introduce Pulled Oats to the US market,” said Maija Itkonen, co-founder and chief executive officer of Gold&Green Foods.

“From early on, it was clear that we share the same values of high integrity, excellence and responsibility in everything we do. We want to make the world a better place one meal at the time and with Sysco, we’re now closer to that than ever before.”
