Jamie Oliver revealed he lost two stone by eliminating meat from his diet.

He decided to lose weight after realising how unhealthy his eating habits were.

Feeling the need to make a change in his lifestyle, the 44-year-old celebrity chef decided to replace meat-based meals with vegetarian options.

Speaking on the Radio Times, Jamie revealed: "I pushed meat down, pushed veggie up, got more sleep and more movement."

At first, he started to eat more nuts in order to get his fat and protein intake.

"They make you half as likely to have a heart attack. Feed them to your kids as well," he said.

He also started eating more seaweed which is low in calories but very filling, and it contains a lot of fibre that helps you lose weight.

Oliver said he was actually eating more than usual, and still managed to lose weight.

"I lost 12 kilos quite quickly and I didn't do it through not eating," he said.

The chef also started exercising and decided to stop drinking alcohol on weekdays.

He explained: "Your average Brit drinks booze. I'm not telling you what to do, but my rhythm now is only to drink at the weekend.

"It's about a consciousness and knowing you're doing something and being more mindful."

Oliver recently released a new cookbook 'Veg' - dedicated to vegetarian meals. He also hosts a new plant-based cooking show called Meat-Free Meals.

"For me, 'Veg' is all about celebrating really good, tasty food that just happens to be meat-free. This book is a collection of recipes that I often cook at home," her said.
