Veganuary is a time for trying new things, whether that means cooking up something new in the kitchen or visiting your favourite restaurants to check out their vegan menu. Even if you’re a keen chef that prefers their own cooking, I strongly recommend trying out some of the latest and greatest vegan dishes–they might surprise you. Whatever your taste is, burgers, pizzas, pasta dishes, or sweet treats, Veganuary has something for everyone.

It's almost overwhelming how many high street restaurant chains have vegan items on their menus now, and every year brings bigger and better stuff. So to make things easier for you, I have put together a list of some of the popular chains serving up some of the tastiest foods for Veganuary.

Wagamama recently became the UK's first high street chain restaurant to make 50% of its menu vegan. The restaurant has locations in most of the UK's major cities, so this change is bound to impact reducing meat consumption in a big way! For Veganuary, Wagamama launched Tempura F-ish and Bang Bang Yaki-imo, which is exclusive for this month only. The dish is a Japanese-inspired take on the much-loved British dish, fish and chips. To replicate the fish, they have used OmniPork's Omni Golden Fillet.

Vegan egg masterminds, Oggs, have collaborated with Bella Italia for Veganuary to launch two new dishes: CarbOGGnara and Hot ChOGGlate Pudding. The vegan carbonara is made from aquafaba-based Scrambled Oggs and umami vegan pancetta. The dessert is an indulgent, melt-in-the-middle chocolate pudding that is also made with aquafaba.

Italian restaurant Zizzi has launched several plant-based dishes for Veganuary, including the limited edition Rainbow Vegan Lasagne. The dish features six layers of pasta and a variety of tasty veg, including beetroot and spinach, topped with pesto and breadcrumbs. Another dish is their decadent Zillionaire's Slice for dessert–a cookie base topped with salted toffee and coconut chocolate ganache.

Honest Burgers is expanding its vegan reach by opening its first all-vegan restaurant. The plant-based eatery has opened in Covent Garden, London and is aptly named V Honest. You'll find regular favourites on the menu, such as the Honest Burger, but amongst them, there are new options to try, such as the Teriyaki Plant Burger.

Burger King has recently become the first fast-food restaurant chain in the UK to sell vegan nuggets. The product was developed by The Vegetarian Butcher and is made from soy and plant proteins. Last year, Burger King launched the Vegan Royale burger, so you can now have a plant-based banquet at a super affordable price. If you're a fan of their vegan options, you'll be pleased to know that Burger King has also pledged to make half of its menu meat-free by 2030!

Pizza Hut has partnered with Frank's RedHot Sauce to launch a new, fiery hot vegan pizza. The Vegan Flamin' Buffalo Pizza is topped with melty vegan cheese, soy-based chicken, and generous lashings of hot sauce. It's only available for a limited time, so get it while you can—if you can take the heat!

This year for Veganuary, Nando's released a Spiced Chickpea Burger, which features a chickpea and spinach patty with houmous, spinach, red pepper chutney and red pickled onions. This flavourful burger is joining the popular Great Imitator, which is the Nando's plant-based chicken alternative that comes with the option of having it in a wrap, pitta, or burger.

The long-awaited vegan McDonald's burger is finally here, and it did not disappoint! The McPlant is available in all UK restaurants and features a mouthwatering Beyond Meat patty with all the trimmings, including the ever-popular pickles and tasty vegan cheese.
