Crocs Goes Vegan For The Planet

Footwear brand Crocs announced it would be entirely vegan by the end of 2021.
The company will not use any animal-derived products in its future collections as part of a sustainability initiative to become a net zero business by 2030.
Most of Crocs shoes are made from synthetic material called Croslite which is vegan and made from recycled materials, but the brand still uses leather in some if its designs.
The brand estimated that the carbon footprint of each pair of Crocs is at 3.94 kg of CO2e and it's already quite low. However, Crocs aims to reduce it by developing a more eco-friendly version of Croslite.
Crocs is working on reducing packaging for its products. Until now, 85 per cent of shoes were sold without boxes. The brand is also donating recycling programs has plans to use only renewable energy in its headquarters and distribution centres.
Commenting on the announcement, CEO Andrew Rees said: “Taking action to reduce our environmental footprint by implementing more sustainable practices across our entire business is the right thing to do for Crocs.”
“As a company, we are deeply committed to accountability and we’re confident that we have the right team, the right innovations and the right partners to help us achieve our net zero ambitions by 2030.”
