All About Organic Ground Star Anise :
Star anise is a spice made from the fruit of the evergreen Illicium verum tree, which is native to China. It's aptly named for the star-shaped pods from which the spice seeds are harvested.
Star anise has a mild and fragrant sweet, peppery flavour, which is comparable to liquorice.
Its rich in a variety of flavonoids and polyphenolic compounds, which may contribute to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.
Instructions for Use:
The potent and sweet flavour of star anise pairs well with savoury dishes such as soups, stews, curries and braises, adding a contrasting liquorice-like taste to dishes. Star anise is also used to flavour liqueurs and mulled wine.
