All About Organic Cubeb Pepper:

Cubeb pepper, also referred to as Java pepper due to its Indonesian origin, comes from the fruit of the tropical vine plant.

The aroma of cubebs is aromatic and has a mildly peppery flavour with a slightly bitter aftertaste. It has been described as tasting like cross between allspice and black pepper. Cubeb pepper is not as hot as black pepper. In fact, it scores only a three out of ten in heat level.

Cubebs contains cubebic acid, which may have an effect on the urinary and respiratory tracts as well as the digestive system.

Instructions for Use: 

This cubeb pepper may resemble black peppercorns but has a more mild, rounded flavour with hints of nutmeg and cardamom. It appears most frequently in African and Asian cuisines and can be crushed and mixed with other herbs and spices for a seasoning mix.

Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat and damp.
