World Vegan Day and TVK's Third Birthday

Today is a special day. It's World Vegan Day (and the start of world vegan month).

For those of you who don't know, World Vegan Day is an annual event celebrated by vegans around the world on 1 November. It was established in 1994 by Louise Wallis, who was then Chair of The Vegan Society, to commemorate its 50th anniversary. This year, in 2016, The Vegan Society and the terms 'vegan' and 'veganism' are celebrating their 72nd anniversary. 

World Vegan Day/Month is traditionally a day where lots of people begin their vegan journey (in actual fact it was World Vegan Day in 2010 in which I took my first baby steps into the world of veganism) so don't forget to share some gentle encouragement on social media today and throughout this month, to raise awareness of the positive benefits of veganism for the animals, your health and the planet. Today, we celebrate not only World Vegan Day, but also the anniversary of the month we shipped our first ever box, exactly three years ago. The past few years have absolutely flown in, and the amount of change we've witnessed not only in our business, but in the vegan industry as a whole in just these three short years is phenomenal. We've seen major improvements in Supermarkets in terms of the vegan selection they have available, massive improvements in the labelling of vegan products (although we still have quite a way to go on that one) and the most marked change we have seen is the amount of positive vegan coverage you see in the press these days. Everyone and their nan is writing about veganism, and we couldn't be happier about it.

In terms of our own brand, we've gone from being just a husband and wife team, packing boxes on our living room table, to sending thousands of boxes a month from our warehouse with a small, but great team of lovely staff behind us. We'd like to say a huge thank you to all of our subscribers, old and new, for coming with us on this journey. We've hit so many amazing milestones over the past three years, and with the launch of our online shop (thevegankind.com/shop) our new vegan mug line and our amazing gift boxes (with lots more of them on the horizon), 2017 is set to be our biggest and best year yet.
