It’s that time of year when our bellies are still full from Christmas Dinner (for too many days in a row!), the wine bottles are still clogging up the recycling bin, and we are cosied up on the couch watching movies and clinging onto the last vestiges of Christmas. Inevitably, our thoughts turn to the year ahead as 2018 is almost upon us; the New Year’s Eve bells chime in a clean slate and enticing fresh start that has us already contemplating our New Year’s resolutions and dusting off our trainers and active wear… (OK, who are we kidding, we’ve spent the whole of the festive season thus far in our active wear being considerably un-active!)

According to the most recent update, 75,000 people across the world are also thinking ahead to what this January brings and and have signed up to take part in what has quickly established itself as one of the most prominent and highly anticipated events in the vegan calendar - Veganuary.

Launched in the UK in January 2014, Veganuary (pronounced vee-gan-uary) is a registered charity (1168566) with a  simple yet incredibly effective concept that encourages people to try vegan for January. Veganuary’s founders, Jane and Matthew, knew that month-long vegan pledges were not unusual, but felt that it could be done differently, and perhaps more successfully, by focusing on the month of January; a time for resolutions and new beginnings.

Veganism is one of the most effective choices a person can make to reduce the suffering of animals, help the planet and improve personal health, and Veganuary is dedicated to changing public attitudes, while providing all the information and practical support required to make the transition to veganism as easy and enjoyable as possible.

You can sign up and take the Veganuary pledge on their website and they'll send you daily emails containing delicious recipes, meal plans and helpful tips, such as where to get your nutrients and how to stock your cupboards. And you’ll be the first to hear about appeals, vegan news and exciting offers!

To help you along the way, we've partnered with Veganuary to create a collection of all of our favourite meat, dairy and snack alternatives which you can shop using the Supermarket tab on the Veganuary website. The best bit is that at no extra cost to you, a percentage of all sales from purchases made using this link will go straight back to Veganuary, to help support them with the incredible vegan advocacy work they carry out throughout the entire year.

If you have been considering trying veganism but weren't sure where to begin, or if you are already vegan and know someone you think it would be perfect for, sign up and shout it from the rooftops!

Veganism has seen exponential growth in the last few years and it is only set to continue - let's make 2018 the best year for veganism yet!
