Dairy-free Mexicana Cheese scooped award at Quality Food Awards 2020. The spicy vegan cheese was announced the winner in the Dairy-Free Vegan Cheese Blocks Category.
The Quality Food Awards are the most prestigious awards for food and drink products on sale in UK grocery stores. This year the event went virtual announcing the 2020 winners in an online presentation due to current restrictions in place around the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lisa Harrison, the Senior Brand Manager for Mexicana Vegan, said: “The success of Applewood Vegan inspired us to look at creating a vegan alternative for Mexicana. We knew that the demand for dairy alternatives is growing every day.
“We were thrilled with how successful Mexicana Vegan performed in taste tests before it launched in Asda stores in July. Since its arrival in the stores, demand has been extremely strong.
“To win the prestigious Quality Food Award just a few months after its launch is just the icing on the cake for the team that has worked on creating Mexicana® Vegan. We hope that it is the first of many!”
Norseland (brand owner) launched the Mexicana Vegan following the successful launch of Applewood Vegan last year. The company has recently rebranded the Mexicana product so its packaging ‘better reflects its consumers’ zest for life and thirst for new experiences’.
