Marc Coloma, food activist and Heura founder has been featured on the 50 Next. The organisation behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and The World’s 50 Best Bars has today unveiled the first edition of 50 Next, a list of young people shaping the future of gastronomy.

The list features seven categories which recognise those working across gastronomy in production, tech, education, creative industries, science, hospitality and food activism.

Designed to inspire, empower and connect the next generation of leaders, 50 Next celebrates people aged 35 and under from across the wider food and drink scene, from producers and educators to tech creators and activists.

This year’s virtual announcement will be followed in 2022 with a live event in the region of Biscay, in the Basque Country of Spain, the official Host Destination Partner to 50 Next, once travel restrictions are eased.

“This award gives us the strength to truly believe in the key role that our Mediterranean approach to plant-based food has to play on the future of the food industry.” says Marc Coloma, Heura co-founder. “The world needs a protein transition, which will only happen by creating delicious and healthy successors to meat. When we create our products, we want to think that we are properly representing our culinary heritage within the transition to plant-based protein.”

50 Next  promotes positive, sustainable and visionary thinking. The inaugural list aims to represent the diversity of the global gastronomic scene, featuring people from 34 different countries across six continents.

Heura is a plant-based startup founded by food activists Marc Coloma and Bernat Añaños in April 2017. The company's mission is to create solutions that will leave the current food system obsolete and accelerate the transition to a world where animals are out of the equation. Heura's Mediterranean culinary heritage is reflected in their products: clean label, high nutritional values and taste.

In 2020 Heura introduced its plant-based chicken products on the UK market through the launch in TheVeganKind Supermarket. Currently, it has rollled out it's latest product - burger, which is believed to the be world's healthiest plant-based burger.
