This New Houmous aka Houmouz Is Made With Beans

Who doesn't love houmous? Heinz has launched a new innovative version of this popular Middle Eastern dish, replacing chickpeas with haricot beans.

Who doesn't love houmous? Made with healthy and nutritious chickpea houmous is one of the vegan staples.

Heinz Beanz Houmouz will be available in two varieties – Original and Roasted Butternut Squash. The product is not vegan-certified but the list of ingredients doesn't include any animal-based components.

The Beanz Houmouz Original is made with haricot beans blended with roasted tomatoes, sesame tahini and extra virgin olive oil, seasoned with lemon juice, garlic, and cumin and topped with tomato.

The Beanz Houmouz Roasted Butternut Squashflavour features smoothly blended haricot beans with sweet, roasted butternut squash, sesame tahini and extra virgin olive oil, seasoned with lemon juice, garlic and rosemary, topped with sunflower, pumpkin and sesame seeds.

Heinz Houmouz is perfectly paired with fresh veggies, crackers, crisps, and other vegan snacks at barbecue parties and picnics this summer.

Lucila Ardalla, New Ventures Director for Beanz Liberation at Kraft Heinz, said: “Since 1901, Heinz Beanz have become one of the UK’s favourite and most comforting meal choices and was one of the very first plant-based pioneering foods. But what many people don’t know, is just how much nutritional superpower our beans really hold.

“Here at Heinz, we’re in the midst of a Beanz revolution, finding new and exciting ways to liberate our beloved Heinz Beanz out of their can and into new formats, flavours and tastes. Our new Beanz Houmouz follows the success of our Beanz Burgers launch last year and is just one example of many more formats to come that will ensure future generations can enjoy this brilliantly British food”.

She added: “We’re un-bean-lievably excited to be continuing our plant powered story by launching our very first Beanz Houmouz range, made using our iconic beans. The result? A deliciously creamy and smooth texture unlike most traditional chickpea based houmous you’ve tasted before.

“But that’s not all. We’ve got even more delicious ways to enjoy our famous Beanz coming very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!”.

According to the company, one more product will be added to the range in summer 2022. The Beanz Houmouz Chipotle Chilli variety is made with haricot beans with sweet roasted pepper, sesame tahini and extra virgin olive oil, seasoned with lemon juice, garlic and cumin, with an added kick of chipotle chilli and cayenne pepper.
