The Vegan Kind are proud to work closely with Glasgow based Food Not Bombs, a local volunteer group who provide free vegan and vegetarian meals and provisions to those in need via food and drink waste.
Food Not Bombs are an all-volunteer collective who distribute food from over one thousand cities around the world to feed the hungry. Originating in Boston, USA in 1980 to help support a protest against the exploitation of capitalism and the nuclear war industry, the organisation has moved from strength to strength and today includes chapters from The Congo to Copenhagen. With an estimated one billion people going hungry each and every day, Food Not Bombs are doing vital work in saving perfectly edible food from going to waste, therefore savings lives. They also provide supplies and meals to those in need during natural disasters and support for protesters, striking workers and marchers. Their message is one of anti war, poverty and destruction of the environment.

Ingredients are used to create nutritious, filling meals, baked goods and hot and cold drinks that are distributed without judgement at stalls by friendly, welcoming volunteers. On hand are also free grocery items such as tins of beans, whole fruit and vegetables, biscuits, sauces, baby milk, nappies, pasta, and so much more. Most food and drink are completely plant-based, some are vegetarian, but no meat or fish is used or handed out whatsoever.

Whenever we have excess or out of date stock such as food, drink, beauty products and more, we let Food Not Bombs know and they collect from us direct, or we make a drop-off to their headquarters. Recent meals that we have provided ingredients for include a lentil and vegan bacon soup and plant-based mac ‘n’ cheese!
