World's biggest coffee chain revealed its plans to stop charging an additional fee for drinks that are made with vegan milk.

Recently, Starbucks has been making moves towards sustainability by making its menu more plant-based and environmentally-friendly.

In December, Starbucks added a few vegan options to the menu in the UK, including jackfruit grain bowl, chocolate and raspberry cake, and overnight oats. In January, the chain launched three new drinks made with almond and coconut milk. And last month oat milk was added to the menu.

Last year, PETA bought stock in Starbucks Corporation in effort to be able to attend and speak at their annual meetings.

The group has been protesting against the 'vegan tax' and advocating to make Starbuck's menu more sustainable and affordable for vegans.

At Starbucks' last shareholders' meeting, PETA representative asked if the corporation has any plans to drop the surcharge for plant-based milk options.

COO of Starbucks Roz Brewer said that the company is planning to make drinks with plant-based milks more available.

"We'll continue to innovate on plant-based alternatives and beverages," she said.

"We expect costs [of non-dairy milk] to come down as the supply chain for plant-based options matures and we will pass this onto our customers. We will watch this carefully."

Additionaly, the chain has plans to add more vegan dishes to the menu at all its locations worldwide.
