Spanish Plant Based Meat Brand Heura Receives Investment From Football Star Chris Smalling

Barcelona-based plant-based meat company, Heura, has received backing from former Manchester United and current Roma footballer, Chris Smalling. 

Heura are agents of social change, championing for a sustainable future and taking the world by storm as meat successors with their flavoursome and juicy product range that is healthier than meat and better for the planet!

Known for sticking to their Mediterranean roots and outstanding nutritional information, Heura is the only plant-based meat which uses extra virgin olive oil – meaning their products remain low in saturated fat and use fewer ingredients to boast a short, clean label. With the highest protein content per calorie out of all their plant-based peers, Heura is favoured by vegan athletes across the globe, including Smalling.

Having already received backing from New Crop Capital and V Capital and Heura’s investments are set to multiply as they kick off a brand-new investment round, with Chris Smalling leading by example.

In the statement sent to TheVeganKind, Chris said: "Heura’s mission for change mirrors my own personal mission. They go above and beyond as a brand to leave an imprint on the way people think about plant-based diets and animal welfare, alongside creating amazing products. We’re both committed to making an impact for good so when I got the opportunity to invest in the business, I jumped at the chance!"

Recently crowned the first of their plant-based peers to receive B-corp certification, Heura is a company of activists, working to bring like-minded individuals on a plant-powered journey with them to change the future of our global food systems forever. This week, Heura launched an equity crowdfunding campaign through investment platform Crowdcube and in less than 24 hours had raised the €4 million that had been set as the maximum expected for this activation. 3,012 investors participated, joining the global "Good Rebel" movement led by Heura.
