Popular deodorant brand Secret is now cruelty-free, animal rights organisation PETA announced this week.

The brand joined the Global Beauty Without Bunnies program, a global cruelty-free beauty campaign run by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

The initiative requires the member brands to stop testing on animals. Secret is one of the brands which received PETA’s certification.

Procter & Gamble - the owner of Secret, have been collaborating with PETA to help end animal testing in the cosmetics and beauty industry around the world and develop testing methods not involving animals.

Another brand from Procter & Gamble portfolio - Herbal Essences joined the Global Beauty Without Bunnies program last year.

“As a pioneer in animal-testing alternatives, we are thrilled to add Secret to the list of Procter & Gamble brands that are part of PETA’s Global Beauty Without Bunnies program,” said Kelly Vanasse, Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, Procter & Gamble Global Beauty, Grooming and Health Care.

“Being cruelty-free is important for Secret. It provides people with the assurance they’ve come to rely on when choosing their personal-care products.”
