As a vegan, one of the most common questions you get asked is whether or not you miss eating meat. In Scotland, the question is usually ‘do you not miss a sausage and potato scone roll and a bottle of Irn Bru!?’ Well as a matter of fact, Irn Bru is vegan friendly and thanks to the amazing people at FacePlant Foods, we can now join in with the traditional Sunday morning breaky without harming any animals in the process!
FacePlant Foods is a vegan pop up kitchen that specialises in creating delicious plant-based street food with a ‘Scottish Twist’. They are regulars at the Big Feed Market in Glasgow and the Leith Farmers Market and make all of their food in house. From their vegan cheese, ‘bacon’, vegan haggis balls and now the ultimate Scottish delicacy – the humble Lorne sausage; these guys genuinely are food wizards (seriously, what is this witch craft!?).
If you want to try some of their incredible creations, you can currently only get your hands on them by visiting their pop-up stand at one of the markets or by heading to MAYZE Coffee Food in Finneston (check out their waffles they serve with FacePlant Foods ‘bacon’ - absolute heaven!). However, if you don’t live close by, don’t fret, TheVeganKind Supermarket are on the case and are hoping to stock FacePlant Foods products in the very near future – staring of course, the new Lorne sausage.
