Plant-based Foods To Help You Lose Weight In Spring

If you’d like to become your best self this spring, revamping your diet is one of the best ways to do it.

There’s something about sunlight on your skin and longer, warmer days that gets you in the mood to get healthy. It just seems that little bit easier to stay motivated to exercise and eat nutritious foods when spring and summer come back around.

If you’d like to become your best self this spring, revamping your diet is one of the best ways to do it. But, please do not fall into the trap of fad diets or weight loss products; they’re not a good way of maintaining a healthy weight and they can even be bad for you.

Losing weight doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. You can shed pounds by eating mindfully, eating less processed foods and incorporating a variety of plant foods into your diet.

Plant foods are unbeatable when it comes to losing weight healthily as they’re low in calories and fat and are loaded with fibre. If you’d like to find a few plant-based foods that can help you on your journey to burning fat this spring, keep on reading.

Chickpeas

Legumes, such as chickpeas, are full of fibre and thus will keep you feeling full for longer. They’re also highly cost-effective and versatile. If you’re not a big fan of chickpeas, try them in different ways to experiment before you completely reject them. For example, have you ever tried a chickpea tuna sandwich? Or how about buffalo roasted chickpeas? So delicious!

Oats

Whole grains, such as oats, are also full of fibre that will keep you feeling full. According to nutritionist, David Weiner, “eating whole grains has also shown to reduce appetite and influence your body’s energy use, both of which can affect body composition.” There’s nothing quite like starting your day with a bowl of oats; it’ll keep you satisfied and you’ll have plenty of energy.

Dark chocolate

Yes, you read that right–dark chocolate can help you lose weight. This delicious snack is surprisingly a powerful source of antioxidants, and research suggests that it may also play a role in controlling appetite

Tofu

According to Medical News Today, eating protein for breakfast can aid weight loss, making tofu scramble the perfect choice. More high protein breakfast foods include quinoa and nut butter—yum!

Pistachios

Nuts such as pistachios are rich in nutrients and high in fibre. Pistachios are also one of the lowest-calorie nuts. They can be enjoyed as a snack, garnish or added to your favourite dessert!

Spinach

Dark leafy greens such as spinach are not only low in calories but also low on the glycemic index (meaning they are broken down more slowly and cause a gradual rise in blood sugar levels over time), making them ideal foods for healthy weight loss.

Walnuts

Walnuts are a great heart-healthy snack food and dessert ingredient. And according to research, walnuts can help decrease feelings of hunger and appetite.

Green tea

Okay, so green tea is technically a drink, but its fat-burning properties are too amazing to be left out. A number of studies have concluded that green tea has a positive effect on metabolism and can boost weight loss due to its antioxidants and caffeine content. Two to three cups per day is thought to be a good amount to reap the benefits.
