PETA Urges Royal Mail To Create Stamps With Vegan Message
Animal rights organisation PETA is urging the Royal Mail to create a limited-edition stamp bearing a vegan message amid the coronavirus pandemic.
PETA has written a letter to the postal service and prepared a stamp design featuring a block of tofu with the message saying: 'Tofu Never Caused a Pandemic'.
The group believes that the pro-vegan stamp could help pass on an important message about the danger of diseases related to animal farming and meat consumption.
"The majority of the world's new or emerging infectious diseases come from animals – mainly via the wildlife trade and factory farming," PETA senior campaigns manager, Kate Werner, said.
"We can help protect ourselves against future pandemics by switching to nutritious, delicious vegan foods like tofu!"
Most of the viruses and diseases come from animals which are kept in terrible conditions on factory farms. Scientists believe that the latest coronavirus originated in a 'wet market' in Wuhan where animals were kept, slaughtered and sold for food.
