Meatless Farm Rolls Out Vegan Sausage Rolls & Sausage Patties

Plant-based meat maker Meatless Farm has just rolled out a vegan sausage roll and sausage patties! 

The plant-based protein microwaveable sausage roll is the brand's first product in the savoury pastries category. 

The company has also launched what it describes as the UK's first plant-based sausage patties. 

The new products mark the first of 10 planned launches in 2021. 

According to the brand, meat alternatives were becoming" the fastest-growing area of the chilled savoury pastries sector" during the pandemic. 

"We see breakfast and savoury pastry as two of the biggest opportunities and innovation is one of the core ways we can continue to grow the category," said the brand's chief growth officer Michael Hunter. 

Meatless Farm is the UK's fastest-growing plant-based meat company.

This month, Meatless Farm announced the launch of a new ingredients facility in Canada and a partnership with the Spanish football club Real Madrid. 

The collaboration aims to help raise awareness of the benefits of plant-based diets. Real Madrid’s nutritionists will work with Meatless Farm to show how plant-based foods can be incorporated to sports diet and the players will be sharing their experience of reducing meat consumption and increasing plant-based foods for both personal health and environmental benefits. 

Speaking recently with FoodIngredientsFirst, Morten Toft Bech, founder of Meatless Farm, said 2021 would be a “tipping point” for plant-based food. 

“We have seen the pandemic really heighten the public awareness of health and consumers have become increasingly conscious of their food choices. During the various lockdowns, consumers paid more attention to their shopping habits and how they impact the environment,” he said.

“The UK government’s COVID-19 tracker is testament to this where, last summer, they reported that over a third of British consumers were actively buying more sustainable products.”
