Northern Ireland - based artisanal meat company Finnebrogue Artisan is debuting its 'Naked' vegan bacon this week.
"Without the Oink" Bacon has been added to Finnebrougue's meat alternatives range. The plant-based line called 'Naked' includes burgers, meatballs and sausages.
The vegan bacon is fortified with vitamins and minerals such as B12, iron and zinc. The product will be sold in packs of 10 "rashers" priced at £3.00.
Finnebrogue Chairman Denis Lynn told The Grocer: "We looked at what was wrong with the plant-based bacon products already on supermarket shelves in order to figure out how to make our plant-based bacon the best it can be.
"There really is nothing like the taste and smell of proper bacon—but these delicious rashers are meat-free so absolutely everyone can be part of that special bacon eating experience. It's not quite the same as the real thing, but we think it's getting there."
The new product will launch in stores across the UK this month.
Earlier this year, Finnebrogue announced plans to invest £63 million in a new vegan 300,000 square food factory.
