McPlant Burger Is Finally In All McDonald's Restaurants (For Good)

After a successful trial in McDonald's is launching its vegan McPlant burger in all McDonald's restaurants across the UK and Ireland.

After a successful trial in select restaurants, McDonald's is launching the vegan McPlant burger in all of its restaurants across the UK and Ireland.

The McPlant is made with juicy plant-based patty from Beyond Meat and comes with a slice of vegan cheese, topped with vegan sauce, mustard, ketchup, pickels, onions, tomatoes and lettuce inside a vegan sesame bun.

The company says i has the “same iconic taste” as the traditional meat burgers.

The vegan cheese used in McPlant was developed by the chain. It is made from coconut oil and pea protein. It melts and tastes exactly like the dairy cheese used in McDonald's famous sandwiches.

To make sure McPlant is suitable for vegans it is carefully prepared in the oven so it doesn't get in contact with meat. The plant-based patty is not cooked on the grill. While meat products are also cooked in the oven, this will not be at the same time or using the same equipment, including oven trays and tongs. The chain makes sure the ovens and equipment are cleaned regularly. Additionally, McPlant has been accredited as vegan by the Vegetarian Society.

McDonald's trialled McPlant in over 250 restaurants last year, and the item was received with a positive response from the customers. According to the company the burger has “already proved hugely successful with customers.

Michelle Graham-Clare, chief marketing officer at McDonald’s UK and Ireland, said: “We’re so pleased that our McPlant is now officially ‘everywhere’ and available for more of our customers to taste and enjoy.

“We saw a remarkable response to the trial period back in October and now McPlant is on the high street, in retail parks and service stations all over the UK and Ireland so all of our customers will be able to try it.”

Starting from 5th January 2022, McPlant will be available in all restaurants across the UK and Ireland.
