The luxury fashion house decided to take a step forward towards cruelty-free after many years of pressure from animal rights organisations.

People for the Ethical Treatment (PETA) which for many years led the protest against the company’s use of fur, announced the news on Wednesday. Animal rights campaigners organised the first protest against the fashion brand in 1995.

The fashion house founder and main designer Karl Lagerfeld was famous for defending the killing of animals for fur and leather.

The decision to stop using fur comes 10 months after his death and also extends to the AM Retail Group and its parent company, the G-III Apparel Group.

"PETA applauds these companies for their compassionate and business-savvy decisions, which show that fur is out and kindness is in” - said Elisa Allen from PETA.

Karl Lagerfeld fashion brand is among the latest labels to go fur-free.
