Leon Teams Up With Vegan Company To Launch 'Powered By Pride' Campaign Supporting Displaced LGBTIQ+ People

The sale of an exclusive new wrap will help raise funds to support UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency’s work to protect LGBTIQ+ people who have been forced to flee their homes.

To celebrate Pride in the UK, LEON and Heura have come together for their first joint campaign “Powered by Pride'' to support displaced LGBTIQ+ people around the world.

For each sale of the Vegan Harissa Chick’n Wrap using a discount code, Heura will donate £3 to UNHCR to support their work in protecting people who have been forced to flee their homes for being who they are or loving who they love. Customers can also choose to add their own donation to UNHCR when purchasing the wrap at any participating LEON.

Discount codes for 20% off the LEON and Heura Vegan Harissa Chick’n Wrap will primarily be available through Plant Based News, the UK’s top vegan news source with 2.8 million social followers and 80 million monthly impressions, as well as top influencers in the UK sustainable food industry.

To further increase impact, Heura will launch an inclusive Pride event in conjunction with Dalston Superstore, a cultural epicentre of LGBTIQ+ lifestyle and community in London, with all the proceeds going to UNHCR.

“We were so thrilled with the positive response from UK consumers when we first launched Heura in LEON, we knew we had to leverage this momentum for good,” said Bernat Añaños, Food Activist, Head of Social Movement and Co-Founder of Heura Foods. “And while there is still a lot to be done, we greatly respect and admire the work UNHCR is doing to protect and serve displaced people within the community, and hope that “Powered By Pride” can act as a reminder that every action has the power to drive positive change.”

With these efforts, LEON and Heura hope to contribute to UNHCR’s work to try to protect all LGBTIQ+ refugees, asylum-seekers, internally displaced and stateless people while working with their partners to provide inclusive services, protect rights and identify safe options.

Glenn Edwards, Managing Director of LEON Restaurants, commented: "LEON is proud to support Pride across the UK with our new plant-forward Harissa Chick'n Wrap, made using Heura’s Vegan Chicken. We look forward to Pride revellers getting the chance to try this summer menu dish while supporting a very worthy cause."

The Vegan Harissa Chick’n Wrap injects a little Mediterranean spice into LEON’s menu. Packed full of vibrant veggies and Heura’s world-famous vegan chicken (made with 100% extra virgin olive oil, the world’s healthiest fat) and LEON’s Harissa sauce, this is a summer menu dish to be proud of.

LEON will feature Vegan Harissa Chick’n Wrap in London, Brighton and Manchester Pride parades, while Heura will host its Pride event in conjunction with Dalston Superstore, a cultural epicentre of LGBTIQ+lifestyle and community in London. Keep an eye on the brand’s socials for ticket and date information.

The new Heura Vegan Harissa Chick’n Wrap is available nationwide and on the LEON App all Summer. Promotions on the wrap, and chances to win access to exclusive LEON and Heura events, will be available through both brands’ social media.
