The hospital announced last week it would only serve plant-based food to all of its patients, starting this month.
The hospital wrote in an Instagram post: “Our patients will no longer wake up from surgery to be greeted with ham, cheese, milk, and eggs… the very food that may have contributed to their health problems in the first place.”
“We believe it’s well about time to tackle the root cause of diseases and pandemics, not just treat symptoms.”
“Just last year, our patients were given the choice to choose between an animal-based meal and a vegan meal. During this transition phase, our patients were provided with information on the benefits of an exclusive plant-based whole food diet versus the dangers of animal-based food consumption.”
Numerous medical studies indicate that the consumption of red meat and particularly of processed meat is associated with an increased risk of total mortality, cancer and cardiovascular disease.
Plant-based and especially whole food plant-based diet, rich in fibre (vegetables and fruits), antioxidants and unsaturated fat is beneficial for human health.
According to latest studies plant-based whole food is linked to reduced risk of most common chronic illnesses such as diabetes, high pressure and heart disease.
