Innovative plant-based egg substitute JUST Egg will debut in Canadian Walmart and Whole Foods Market supermarkets this autumn.
The vegan egg will be sold in Toronto, Victoria, Vancouver, and Ottawa.
JUST Egg is made from mung bean protein and canola oil. It “has as much or more protein than many animal proteins. It is non-GMO and contains no cholesterol and no artificial flavours.
JUST's ingredients use 98% less water, have a 93% smaller carbon footprint and use 86% less land than animal sources. Until May 2020, the company has sold the vegan equivalent of 40 million eggs, representing a savings of 1.48 billion gallons of water which equals of filling 1,900 Olympic-sized pools; 2,036 acres of land; and 5 million kilograms in carbon dioxide emissions which equals driving 12 million miles in a car.
Branded as JUST Plant Egg in Canada, the product will be available as its newest version - folded egg omelette. It will be sold in a box of four in the frozen aisle. JUST launched its folded egg for the first time in April 2020.
