Venture Company co-founded by Jay-Z was among investors in the latest funding round of vegan chicken company Simulate.
Simulate spokesman Andrew Watts, confirmed the news but hasn't revealed any details of the transaction.
Marcy Venture Partners was co-founded by Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, Jay Brown and Larry Marcus and participated in the funding round that valued the plant-based chicken brand at over $250 million.
Simulate is the food tech company behind the plant-based chicken brand Nuggs. Last week, the company announced it has raised $50 million in Series B funding.
Simulate offers vegan Nuggs chicken and Doggs vegan hot dogs. Both are made with pea protein.
Nuggs are now available at more than 5,000 retail locations across the US. The company plans to expand its products to 10,000 new retail locations by the end of this year.
Marcy Venture Partners recently invested in Swedish plant-based milk company Oatly among other investors including celebrities Oprah Winfrey and Natalie Portman. Previously, the company invested in plant-based meat maker Impossible Foods. Jay-Z also backed black-owned vegan cookies company Partake.
