Vegan actor and musician Jaden Smith has announced his latest charity venture. Smith is opening a plant-based restaurant for the homeless in Los Angelese. The restaurant will provide free meals for those in need in the local community.
He revealed the news in his latest interview with Variety. "It’s for homeless people to get free food. ‘But if you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you," he said.
It is not Jaden's first charitable vegan business. He has been working to help poorer communities for over two years in Los Angeles, New York and Michigan.
In 2019 Smith founded Just Water company that put water filtration system in a town in Michigan, after the main water system was contaminated with lead. He partnered with 501CTHREE.org’s Water Box project to provide access to clean water to communities. In the same year he launched his I Love You food truck in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles in 2019.
He says it is "about giving people what they deserve, healthy vegan food for free."
