IKEA Debuts Vegan Hot Dogs In Australia

The furniture giant IKEA has released a vegan hot dog at its stores located in New South Wales and Canberra in Australia. 

The plant-based hot dog is made from red lentils, kale, carrots, and ginger. It comes topped with fried onions, pickled cabbage and mustard.

The veggie dog is priced at AUS $1. The company expects to sell 1.3 million vegan hot dogs per year.

The hot dogs are also available in packs of 10 for $6.99 at IKEA Swedish Food Market in all the stores across Australia.

According to news.com.au, IKEA plans to add six new vegan options to the menu at all the Australian locations within the next 12 months. 

IKEA launched the veggie hot dogs in European stores for the first time in 2018 and it sold an estimated one million in two first months. The veggie dogs are also available in the US and Canada.

IKEA warns vegan customers to check with their local stores to confirm that its buns are free from animal products.
