Ice-Cream Brand Arctic Zero Goes Vegan

Ice-cream producer Arctic Zero removed whey from its ice-cream ingredients to become fully vegan. The brand celebrates the transformation with the launch of two new plant-based flavours: Classic Vanilla and Pistachio.

Classic Vanilla is smooth and rich in flavour classic treat. Pistachio is a blend of pistachio and amaretto flavour. With only 40 calories per serving both products are the perfect base for your favourite smoothie or shake.

The new products join a range of 160-calorie ice-cream made from fava bean base, including Salted Caramel, Cookie Shake, Cake Batter, Hint of Mint and Purely Chocolate.

San Diego-based Arctic Zero was founded by Greg Holtman in 2009, aiming to offer low calorie and low glycemic frozen desserts.

Arctic Zero products are Non-GMO Project Verified, Plant-Based Certified, naturally flavoured, gluten-free and low-glycemic. The company is committed to selecting only clean ingredients – never using sugar alcohols or anything artificial. After experimenting with plant-based ingredients, the company launched its first plant-based ice cream made with fava bean protein in 2018.

Arctic Zero's CEO Jason Paine says the brand has its eyes focused on getting back to its roots: "There has been a lot of disruption in the better-for-you category leaving consumers overwhelmed. The launch of these two new flavours shows our fans that we are listening and will continue to focus on being the lowest calorie, plant-based frozen dessert available."
