Aquafaba is chickpea water that acts as a marvellous egg replacement that whips and whisks just the same as an egg does. It’s perfect for vegan baking and egg-free cooking. It’s fat-free, low-calorie, contains no added sugar, and will make the perfect pancakes!

Here’s another egg replacement option, as you can never have too many! This CRACKD product is a magical liquid that equates to 8 whole eggs in one 490g bottle. It’s rich in protein and contains no artificial colours or flavourings.

Sproud’s unsweetened plant milk is just like milk, but it’s better for your health and the environment. It’s free from nuts, soy and GMOs, and has a low sugar content too.

The Mighty Pea is a deliciously smooth and creamy alternative to milk made from yellow split peas and packed with nutrients! It doesn’t contain any dairy, nuts, or soy, but it is a good source of vitamin D and B12.

Pancake Day isn’t complete without generous helpings of sweet syrup, and if you’re looking for the perfect Golden Syrup then look no further as Sweet Freedom’s product won the Great Taste Award for 2019. It doesn’t contain any preservatives or GMOs, it’s a good source of fibre, and gets all of its sweetness from delicious, nutritious fruits.

Vegetable oils are the best cooking fat to use for pancakes as they don’t have much taste and are very affordable. Mr Organic’s pure-quality sunflower oil is made from cold-pressed sunflower seeds and is bursting with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, omega 6 and polyunsaturated essential fatty acids.

Another option for frying your pancakes is to use coconut oil. This oil from Biona is particularly great as it’s been lightly steamed to remove the coconut flavour. It’s naturally saturated and free-from trans-fatty acids.

Gluten-free vegans, listen up! Clearspring Organic Coconut Flour is a versatile alternative to grain flour and is made from the Sri Lankan coconut pulp, which is shredded, dried, and ground into a fine powder. It’s rich in fibre, protein, iron and magnesium - so not only will your pancakes be delicious, but nutritious too.

Another gluten-free option is Doves Farm’s unique flour blend which is milled from naturally gluten-free ingredients such as potato, tapioca and maize.

Vitalite Dairy Free Spread is the perfect alternative to butter and dairy spreads. It has 75% less saturated fat than butter yet doesn’t compromise on taste. Not only is Vitalie’s spread dairy-free, but it’s gluten-free, soy-free and made with natural colours.
