Greggs' vegan fans rejoice! The popular high street bakery is adding a new vegan option to its menu next month.
The company announced today that a vegan version of its legendary sausage, bean, and cheese melt will be available in August.
Greggs wrote on Twitter: "The Vegan Sausage, Bean, and CheeZe Melt is coming. WARNING, it’s a bit of a mouthful."
They also published a teasing video with a caption: "First we gave you the vegan sausage roll. Then the vegan steak bake. And now, another legend has been veganed".
The vegan sausage and bean melt is made with plant-based meat, and dairy-free cheese that tastes just like cheddar and mozzarella.
The bakery chain says their new plant-based item is fulfilling and tasty, and has the same ‘sausagey’ and ‘beany’ flavour as the traditional item.
Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, said: "The latest addition to our menu gives customers another vegan friendly alternative to one of our most iconic menu items.
"As we expand our vegan options with the launch of our new Vegan Sausage, Bean and CheeZe Melt, we mark another milestone as we continue with our journey to become our customers’ favourite destination for food-on-the-go."
The new product will arrive in stores on 5 August cost from £1.60.
Greggs has been launching vegan bake goods regularly. Last year, the company launched vegan sausage roll and plant-based steak bake, this year more additions appeared on the menu including vegan sausage bap and vegan ‘ham and cheeze’ baguette.
