This morning Greggs tweeted a video announcing when it will be expanding its vegan range.

The company revealed a hint that it will release more vegan options of its patties and pies in January. The video is a parody of fashion label collaboration 'drops. 'Believe the hype' clip says the Greggs X Vegan will 'drop' in January 2020.

Newcastle-based company launched a hit vegan sausage roll a year ago and it soon became one of the company’s bestsellers. It took 2 years to develop and launch the plant-based sausage roll. After a short trial, the vegan patty was sold nation-wide and contributed to the 11.1 % sales growth.

The chain didn’t reveal which of their classics will get a vegan makeover this time.

There were rumours in November claiming that Greggs would launch a vegan steak by Christmas but the company never confirmed that information.

Greggs’ CEO Roger Whiteside said in summer that the company is working on vegan versions of all the products.  "We’re working away to see if we can come up with a vegan version of all our top-selling lines because people want a vegan option. That’s what’s been shown by the vegan sausage roll."- he said.

He also added that they would release a vegan steak patty till Christmas. In the same interview, Greggs’ boss confessed that he is trying a vegan diet and eliminating meat and dairy products from his diet.

Today’s tweet is a confirmation that Greggs will be launching new vegan products in January 2020.

Does it mean that the vegan steak patty 'is coming to town' after Christmas?
