Every Day Is Earth Day - Sustainable Shopping Made Simple

You can easily minimise your environmental impact when shopping for your groceries online!

One of the best ways to fight the climate crisis is to reduce meat and dairy consumption and replace them with plant-based alternatives. Shopping in your local store is a good option but unfortunately it may not fulfil all your needs and it's not available everywhere.

Sustainable Shopping Destination

At The Vegan Kind, we want to make plant-based living accessible to all, everywhere. Currently, we offer a huge range of nearly 6,000 vegan products available to buy online. Our range includes plant-based meats, non-dairy milks, to vegan chocolate and snacks, as well as eco-friendly cleaning products, household goods and vegan gifts.

At The Vegan Kind, we want to make sure that everything we do has the lowest possible impact on our planet. We try to make online shopping as sustainable as possible. We have a big responsibility and opportunity to make a positive difference when it comes to impact of shopping.

Frozen Food To Reduce Food Waste

Food waste is huge problem in in the UK. Over half of food products bought by Brits ends up in the bin. According to the most recent report by the charity Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) we produced around 9.5 million tonnes of food waste in 2018 alone. This number is shocking, especially when we consider that over 8.4 million people in the UK are in food poverty.

It is estimated that buying frozen food generates 47% less food waste than fresh or chilled goods. Frozen food is always fresh, nutritious and has a long shelf life.

Starting next month, we will offer a range of frozen plant-based products, such as vegetables, fruits, meat alternatives, and vegan ready meals and ice-cream. This is just another step for our business to offer more sustainable shopping options.

Eco-friendly Lifestyle Platform

Our website is not only a one-stop vegan shopping destination but also a lifestyle platform. We spread awareness of environmental issues and healthy and sustainable lifestyle to our customers and readers. We prepare exclusive content on environment, healthy diet and nutrition, climate emergency, sustainability, food and plastic waste, food activism, recycling and many other topics. Our platform aims to educate the audience on eco-living and solutions we can take to help our planet and create a better future for the people and the animals.

Planting Trees Every Day

According to scientists, planting trees and recovering forest land is one of the best ways (after reducing meat and dairy consumption) to combat global warming. Recent studies show that a global tree planting programme could remove as much as two-thirds of the CO2 emissions caused by humans.

Last year, we partnered with Ecologi, and we plant a tree for every order made in TVK Supermarket. By that we are committed to carbon reduction through funding reforestation projects. So far, together with our customers we've planted nearly 100,000 trees and contributed 800 tonnes of carbon reduction.

Carbon Neutral Delivery For All Orders

We fight climate change in every possible way. We always focus on the best solutions for the planet and this includes all our operations as well as shipment process. Our parcels arrive to customers using 100% carbon neutral delivery by DPD Group.

Climate Positive Workforce

Last year, The Vegan Kind became Climate Positive Workforce. That means every TVK team member has their carbon footprint offset in both work life and personal life. We're offsetting their total greenhouse emissions, including emissions from their home, food, travel, holidays, hobbies, and more.

We have food waste facilities at our headquarters, and we recycle all the tetra packs from the free products we offer to staff. We work with Food Not Bombs - a charity providing food for those in need.

Recyclable Materials

To minimise the use of plastic in our packaging we use recyclable cardboard boxes in our subscription boxes. All of them are made from recycled materials. The void fill we use in the boxes is also made of 100% recycled paper. We use paper fill for subscription boxe and paper infill for supermarket orders packaging. The bubble wrap we use to protect glass is 100% recycled and recyclable with biodegradable materials. Our boxes can be 'cut down', which means they take up less space in our delivery vans. We use reusable and recyclable ice packs for frozen deliveries. We are producing our own ice packs in house, use eco bubble bags for chilled goods and robust paper tape.

The Vegan Kind team is committed to taking more steps to drive a change in society toward a more sustainable future for all. We use our company as a force for good and want improve the environment. If there's anything more we can do, we will do it!
