Plant-based chicken company Chickenish will be the only vegan stall competing this year at Europe's biggest chicken wing show-down, WingFest in London this weekend.
The annual event brings 35 chicken traders from around the UK who will serve 120,000 chicken wings to visitors.
Chickenish will be serving their iconic vegan chicken "wings" made with soy protein. The brand will be flying the flag for vegan food, competing against 34 traditional chicken stalls. This weekend they want to encourage more meat-eaters to give the plant-based chicken a chance.
Chickenish was founded by two friends Robbie and Danny, who share the passion of making vegan food for non-vegans to show them they can still enjoy the taste and texture of meat without any harm to animals. Together, they are building a brand to help convert chicken shops into vegan establishments to veganise traditional chicken.
Commenting on WingFest, Danny says: "This will be our first time we're selling to 100% non-vegans, so it's good thing our CHKN is suitable for meat lovers. We're not going to make up the numbers. We know our wings will be the tastier on offer."
The company has two permanent sites in East London, and they are opening a new location in Wembley this summer.
