Less than two days after their public launch on Seedrs, Better Nature closed their stretch Crowdfunding target of £1.6 million.
Better Nature, an innovative meat-free brand creating nutritious tempeh products, initially bid to raise £1,350,000 to help them towards their goal of owning the natural, meat-free category. However, this target was hit within three hours of their private Seedrs launch on 23rd March.
This makes Better Nature one of the fastest funded, plant based Crowdfunder's on Seedrs, reflecting the rapid growth of the vegan industry as consumers continue to become more conscious about the food they consume.
Following their last funding round, led by serial investor and technologist Nicholas Owen Gunden and Capital V founder Michiel van Deursen, Better Nature are now stocked in over 200 retailers and are a top-selling vegetarian protein brand on Amazon. Their sales have increased 14-fold in the year ending January 2021, they have filed four patents; and have become the world’s first plastic-neutral meat alternatives company.
This raise will help them as they launch into major supermarkets with a nationwide marketing campaign, while continuing to support their innovative new product development roadmap starting with a brand-new meat alternatives range launching in June.
Kirsty Grant, Chief Investment Officer at Seedrs said: "Sustainability is at the forefront of most people’s minds as we are increasingly aware about how our choices impact the environment. Consumer’s growing environmental consciousness is translating into everyday investors looking for sustainable businesses to support and help grow. Better Nature has built a solid business with an impressive track record across sales and marketing, offering consumers something different and exciting in the natural meat-free category. We're really excited to see what the future holds for them."
Elin Robers, co-founder and Head of Marketing at Better Nature commented: “We are delighted to have hit our crowdfunding target just two days after going public. We are so grateful for everyone who has invested so far and can’t wait to bring this growing community with us on the next stage of our journey. Watch this space."
This round sees Better Nature backed by big names in the vegan investor space, including Ascension Ventures Good Food Fund and Kale United. Kale United's portfolio includes the likes of THIS, Livia's, All Plants and TheVeganKind.
