6 Reasons To Switch To Cruelty-Free Beauty

If a product is labelled 'cruelty-free, that means it has not been tested on animals, and a product labelled 'vegan' means that there aren't any animal ingredients in the formula. There is often confusion between these two labels, but just because a product is labelled vegan doesn't mean that it's also cruelty-free.

A rise in ethical consumers has kickstarted an increase in ethical products. It's now easier than ever to shop for cruelty-free products, and more brands appear by the day. If you've not joined the cruelty-free gang yet, you might very well do so after reading this article!

3.79 million procedures were carried out using live animals in 2017. These animals include dogs, monkeys, rodents, rabbits, and more, and they're often confined to laboratory cages and subjected to painful tests. Some animals are put to sleep before testing and killed straight after, whereas others die during testing. I don't need to go into any more detail to highlight how barbaric and outdated this testing method is. No creature deserves to live a life of unnecessary torture.

Many drugstore brands have recently taken the plunge into the world of cruelty-free beauty; however, there are plenty of brands that have been clued up from the get-go. What I'm trying to say is that you won't ever struggle to find cruelty-free products; they're in drugstores, supermarkets, department stores, and online! All you have to do is lookout for the Cruelty-Free International label on the product or do some research ahead of time. If you're on the lookout for vegan, cruelty-free and affordable beauty products, then check out the following brands:

Believe it or not, there are actually alternatives to animal testing, including In-Vitro testing and the use of computer models. These methods have been proven to provide more conclusive results and do not require the use of animals, so there's no reason why all companies cannot make the change.

Animal testing isn't even as reliable as you'd think. There are often instances where a product is deemed safe for use after testing but is proved otherwise once used on human skin. As I stated previously, alternative testing methods are more effective and cheaper, too.

You may think that switching to cruelty-free products won't make a difference, but it will. One of the most effective ways to bring about change in this society is to vote with your money. Brands keep track of their customers, and if their customer base is declining, they'll want to know why. It won't take them long to figure out that it's because their products aren't cruelty-free! A quick Google search will show you how many drugstore brands have stopped animal testing in the last few years, such as Garnier and Dove. Cruelty-free is the future!

As we can vote with our money, why wouldn't we want to vote for a more compassionate beauty industry? The more consumers who favour cruelty-free businesses (which are commonly small, independent businesses, too), the more likely other companies will follow. Consider each cruelty-free purchase as a step towards a kinder future!
