169-Year-Old Bakery Is Launching Its First Vegan Pastry
Holland’s Pies bakery, established in Lancashire in 1851, has just launched its first-ever vegan pastry.
The product called Vegan Roll is a meat-free version of a classic sausage roll. The pastry is filled with a soy protein patty seasoned with a mix of natural herbs.
The product is ‘Vegan Approved’ by Vegetarian Society. It can be cooked in the oven for 18 minutes when fresh and for less than 30 minutes when frozen. Vegan Roll aims to resemble the ‘fresh from the bakery’ experience at home.
The company says their new offering “is not only great for vegans, but for those looking to cut down on their meat consumption and in search for a tasty snack on the go.”
Leanne Holcroft, Brand Manager at Holland’s Pies said in a statement: “We are incredibly excited to launch our first ever vegan product in Morrisons after receiving lots of feedback from fans following the launch of our extended vegetarian range in 2019.
“With over 400,000 people signing up to take part in Veganuary this year to reduce their meat-consumption and sample the vegan lifestyle**, we wanted to give our fans old and new a snack they’ll really enjoy.”
