It is especially a favourite breakfast snack in the USA and was invented a long time ago in the 1890s, by Sylvester Graham when he first created the Graham Cracker. The early granola was made from a mixture of dried fruits and oats as the main ingredient.

Granola is rich in fibre and protein. It can be used as a topping in ice creams and puddings to give it a crunchy taste. You can also have a granola with fresh fruits for breakfast. Or just as a snack!
Although granola looks like muesli, the difference is, that granola is usually sweetened, whereas this granola has no added sugar.
Mixed with rolled oats, granola tastes delicious, but you can add some sesame seeds, peanuts, honey and raisins.
