2018 Is Off To A Vegan Start

Here at TVK HQ we know that veganism is the future and if this first month in 2018 is anything to go by, we know we will be looking at a vegan world very soon! Here's the proof.

New Record For Veganuary

This year 150,000 people signed up to Veganuary and pledged to go vegan for the month of January, which is a very exciting new record for Veganuary. With a retention rate of over 50%, we will be welcoming over 75,000 new vegans worldwide. Wow!

Vancouver Aquarium No Longer Keeping Dolphins in Captivity

Vancouver Aquarium gave into years of activism from animal rights activist and has announced that it will no longer keep dolphins or whales in captivity. Camille Labchuk of Animal Justice commented on the breakthrough that ‘The writing is on the wall for the whale and dolphin captivity industry’.

GoodFellas Launched Vegan Pizza

Goodfellas became the first mainstream company to release a frozen vegan pizza. The pizza is topped with falafel, red peppers, spinach, white onion, spicy harissa sauce, and  hummus drizzle and is certified by the Vegan Society.

Guinness Became Suitable For Vegans

ALL Guinness is now suitable for vegans! By April 2017, draft Guinness was suitable for vegans, but now bottles and cans are also now vegan.

London Pub Sales Increased With All Vegan Menu

Blacksmith and Toffeemaker, a London-based pub, switched to a vegan menu this year and have already reported an increase in sales by threefold. Options on their menu include an Aloo Tikka Burger, a Halloumi & Kimichi Burger and Mozzarella sticks. Swoon.

Cornetto Released Vegan Ice Cream

Ice-cream brand Cornetto has announced that it is launching a new vegan ice cream cone, which will be available in Sainsburys as of February. The ice cream is dipped in dark chocolate and filled with soya ice-cream, then topped with nuts and more chocolate and will also be gluten free!

Jeremy Corbyn Visited Sea Shepherd Ship

Labour MP and vegetarian, Jeremy Corbyn, visited The Farley Mowat ship of international vegan non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization, Sea Shepherd. Jeremy Corbyn has publicly expressed his interest in veganism and has said that he is eating more vegan meals.

Tesco began stocking plant-based Wicked Kitchen’s delicious range of ready meals, making veganism easier than ever before. We have tasted each of the meals over here at TVK and confirm that they are delicious! Perfect for those lazy nights when the sight of a stove makes you cry. 

Quorn Released Vegan Sandwich Slices

Quorn expanded its vegan range and released its first ever Vegan Deli slices! Now you can get your hands on Chicken Slices and Smoky Ham slices, yum! They’re also both gluten free.

Boots Launches More Vegan Lunch Options

Boots launched 4 new vegan lunch options which are all in the meal deal and perfect for a grab and go lunch! Now you can choose (or just buy them all, hey we’re not judging) between Coronation Veggie Sandwich, Samosa Veggies Wrap, Sweet Potato Falafel Box and Tandoori Beetroot Flatbread. 

Veganism is already dominating 2018 and we cannot wait to see the many other exciting vegan achievements that we are sure this year will bring.
